Les Bourgs Hospice

‘You matter because you are you and you matter until the last moment of your life. We will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully but to live until you die.’ - Dame Cicely Saunders, founder of the UK hospice movement.

HOW VOLUNTEERS HELP

Guernsey’s Hospice has a huge number of strongly committed volunteers who help at the Hospice, the shops in Mont Arrive and on the Bridge or who become involved in a whole host of fundraising initiatives.  They also do anything from mailing and administration to helping on the wards.

Manager of Retail and Volunteering, Vanessa Kenny, says ‘Time is precious. Can you spare some of yours to help Les Bourgs?

‘We are extremely privileged to have working alongside our staff an exceptional team of volunteers.  They bring a wealth and diversity of knowledge and experience, gained from outside the Hospice.  Each and every one enriches the life of Les Bourgs in their own way, bringing in their outside interests which enhance the service provided to both patients and their families.

Volunteers are an indispensable addition to the team at Les Bourgs, in the Hospice itself and the Hospice Shops.  Friends of Les Bourgs and the Board of Governors also deliver an invaluable service.  Here are some of the tasks undertaken by our volunteers – there is something to suit everyone:’
